A Child's Christmas in Hamilton
“…One thing I was sure of was that the glowing garlands that always hung under the fluorescent ceiling lights in the labyrinth halls of Jackson Square quickened my excitement for Santa’s impending evening visit…”
This festive season, we at factor[e] design initiative are launching a charitable holiday project focused on both the Hamilton holiday experience, and improving the experience of a child in Hamilton during the holidays and throughout the rest of the year.
In partnership with City Kidz, and through the utilization of our in-house talents, factor[e] will be publishing a Hamilton focused holiday storybook, entitled A Child’s Christmas in Hamilton. This story, written by Ryan Moran, illustrated by Chelsea Robinson, and with special thanks to Adrian Duyzer, Tyler Cowie, Michelle Hayward, and Parker Martin, is a contemporary, Hamilton focused take on the classic Dylan Thomas prose A Child’s Christmas in Wales. Featuring whimsical, descriptive storytelling, and playful, stylized depictions, this book, to be enjoyed by children and adults alike, details the experience of a child in Hamilton on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in the late 1980s.
In addition to being a delightful reminiscence of the Hamilton holiday experience through the eyes of an adult child, proceeds from the sale of the book, collectors prints and holiday cards featuring its illustrations with associated captions, will go directly to the local Hamilton charity, City Kidz.
The ultimate goal of this unique project is to benefit the broader Hamilton community through simultaneously contributing to the culture and stories of Hamilton, while also supporting an organization that seeks to empower its children, enabling them to follow their dreams.
Excerpts and illustrations from the book will be published here, and shared across our social media platforms throughout December. The book itself will be available directly from us and from select locations across the city starting Monday, December 10th.
